The world's most powerful generative AI models are ready to serve you.
Recraft is a new service that just opened within the past two weeks, but already their Red Panda 3 model is delivering some of the best image quality available, including text and graphic design work as well as realistic photos and many other art styles.
DALL-E 3 (the model used by ChatGPT, Bing Image Creator, and Microsoft Copilot) is great at "prompt adherence," or correctly interpreting all of the words in prompts. Available to use for free through an easy-to-use phone app, or just by asking Copilot to draw you a picture, DALL-E 3 is powerful, easy to use, and produces terrific images. Try it now or read the full review.
Flux from Black Forest Labs is a brand-new model, emerging as a strong competitor to older, established models, and worth trying for realism, high image quality, strong prompt adherence, and accurate text generation. It is also available in versions you can download to run for free on your own computer.
Imagen 3 from Google matches the free usage and excellent prompt adherence of DALL-E 3 and adds inpainting so you can regenerate any parts of the image that you want changed.
Midjourney, which is accessed through the Discord chat app or through a new web interface, excels at producing beautiful, artistic, high-resolution imagery, and offers a powerful toolset for combining and manipulating images in a variety of ways. Midjourney requires a subscription before you can start, but could be worth it.
Adobe Firefly is a powerful model that can be used on the web or within applications such as Adobe Photoshop. It lets you extend or modify images. It's great for editing and enhancing images created by other AI software, but if needed it can also be used to directly generate images based on prompts.
Ideogram is an advanced image generator with prompt adherence rivaling DALL-E 3's, as well as text generation abilities good enough to make some graphic designs and image-to-image options for stylizing, modifying, or evolving images. It lets you generate up to 20 prompts per day for free, with more editing tools, generation options, and faster rendering available by subscription.
NightCafe is an image creation community that lets you generate pictures with a choice of models, including SDXL and DALL-E 3. It supports custom training based on your own sets of images, creates Stable Video Diffusion animations, and offers advanced options such as wide-screen image generation for DALL-E 3.
Tensor.art is home to a wide variety of community-trained Stable Diffusion models, which are available for download and also available to use in online image generation. It's great at making detailed, high-resolution images, supports free, uncensored image generation, and lets you use a big library of models and LoRAs available on the site.
KREA offers real-time generation of images, a very flexible image-to-image creation mode, uncensored support for prompts, a really powerful Enhance mode for high-resolution images, video generation and video enhancement, and a generous free mode that can help anyone explore the tools.
Civitai is a resource to the open-source community, offering free downloads of community-trained Stable Diffusion models, but it also allows you to generate images from your own prompts, right on the site. Civitai includes uncensored image generation, lets you explore a wide range of models and LoRAs, and lets you start for free.
Meta (the company formerly known as Facebook) offers a free image generator that's easy to use, generates images quickly, and even produces short animations. The image quality isn't industry-leading but is good enough for many purposes.
Starry AI provides a fairly powerful image generation service that's almost as good as Midjourney in many ways. It allows you to create a few images for free but sells access starting at $4.99 per week (billed weekly), making it one of the more expensive services.
Mage is a versatile image generation site. It has useful free functions to generate images in many styles and can also re-style selfies or other portraits you could upload. Based on Stable Diffusion, it allows advanced features such as ControlNet and IPAdapter with paid membership. Recent changes include images being censored more than before.
